Wonderful Winter Walk

I love talking a walk on a Sunday, especially when it’s a little bit chilly and everything feels so fresh. So I put on my Russian style faux fur hat to keep my ears and head warm, and off I went! I walked from Newlyn to Mousehole, and back again. Walking as quickly as I could, which was easy as it was pretty cold! I must get myself some gloves, then I will be super toasty! Watch my short video on my Instagram page!

I could see boats on the sea, and the golden light of the sun casting it’s magical light over St Michael’s Mount in the distance was enchanting. I also noticed some of the more hardy plants and flowers including the beautiful bright yellow Gorse that grew in abundance along the path.

Whenever I do this walk it always makes me think about the story of the ‘Mousehole Cat‘, which is based on the legend of a Cornish fisherman, and tells the tale of a cat who goes with its owner on a fishing expedition in rough seas.

Then I saw a poster for a production of it, so I might just pop along to see it.

I love Cows

The dream

In an ideal world all cows should be happy cows! Free to eat grass, and give their milk to their own calves. We can but dream, but we can also do something about this.

If you use Parmesan cheese on your pasta, and especially if you don’t! You might wish to sign this petition:

www.ciwf.org.uk/NotOnMyPasta

The cows that are used to produce this Italian cheese are kept in appalling conditions, and many do not know what it’s like to eat grass! (Please note I would never knowingly share shocking videos, this video just shows the reality of the way these cows are living.)

The reality

Only yesterday I was talking about how cows are content when eating grass in a field, well, these Italian “Parmesan” cows are exploited, and this natural right is taken away, what for? For the sake of cheese on pasta!

It makes me feel so sad, especially when there are so many amazing vegan cheeses available that are really tasty too. Cows are sentient beings – Please sign to help their plight.
Please please please consider drinking plant-based milk instead of dairy milk, and try plant-based cheese instead.

These conditions only occur because of supply and demand, imagine if your choice to stop using dairy products really could create a positive change in the lives of these cows, and in the world at large… just imagine xxx

Artisan Vegan Cheese: From Everyday to Gourmet

Fairy Friday!

Hi lovely readers 🙂 Today I have been recording my new meditation CD at the beautiful location of Sennen Cove in Cornwall, in my partners mobile recording studio, Moon and Sky Mobile Recording Studio.

Moon and Sky Mobile Recording Studio

I have done hundreds of recordings over the years, but recording in beautiful surroundings really does have an effect on the general vibe and atmosphere. As I was recording the meditation I was looking over the view of the waves gently crashing against the sandy shoreline.

Recording my meditation

I love days like this, and feel truly blessed to be alive. I shall update you on when the CD is finished, and the cover is designed – I’m very excited about it. I have recorded most of my meditation CD’s with Michael Tingle, and I know I’m biased when I say he’s the best! Check him out on Instagram @mtingle777 Visit his website here www.michaeltingle.com

Frolicking on the beach!

Thanksgiving

I know we don’t celebrate it here in the UK, but it always make me think about the things I am grateful for. I am thankful for life, for the gift of being able to freely share my creativity and joy with the world. I’m thankful for health, food, shelter, love, laughter, family and friendship. Life is such a beautiful blessing and I am so very thankful for that.

Fairy in the Cafe!

It was a very warm welcome in the cafe on the beach. They had the sweetest festive table decor ,and I found a sparkly golden fairy yay! It does not take much to make me happy!

Writing and Walking

But not at the same time I hasten to add! These two things, writing and walking are non-negotiable – meaning, I do them both every day. Come rain or shine a brisk walk for a minimum of 20 mins, or a longer walk for 45 mins to an hour makes me feel good. My legs love it, even though they ache sometimes, I can feel my muscles getting firmer and stronger. I try to incorporate a hill every now and again, just to spice things up! Plus it’s super good for my CV fitness (Cardiovascular activity).

Hay House 30th Anniversary Journal

With regards to my writing, one of the many things I learnt at the Hay House Writers Workshop is that;

“Writing ‘Morning Pages’ is non-negotiable” ~ Julia Cameron

To explain, ‘Morning Pages’ is like a journal that you write in every morning before you do anything else. It’s a great habit to get into, and I have come up with some real gems of ideas. Including a few possible titles for my book, which is super exciting.

The card you can see here is called Creative Writing – Archangel Gabriel: “Make time to write down your thoughts in a journal, or pen an article or book.”

Glitter in the News!

Glitter in the News!

A friend brought my attention this news story about a nursery banning glitter yesterday, and I felt I needed to share my thoughts on this, and the environmental alternatives! Fairies need their Fairy dust after all!

Nursery bans glitter for Christmas crafts over environmental concerns!

I fully understand that there are concerns for the environment, in our “throwaway” society, many think nothing of the vast amounts of litter created from unnecessary packaging, and plastic bags etc.

Super sparkly biodegradable glitters in shiny shimmering mixes such as ‘Enchanted Forest’, ‘Mermaid Shores’, ‘Unicorn’, ‘All that glitters’ and many others from Fulfilled Wishes.

Over the past few months there have been numerous stories about glitter, and how bad it is for the environment. I agree we need to be sourcing eco glitter, there’s no excuse not to really. However, in the grand scheme of things there are other environmental concerns that also need to be looked at, like the constant pollution of the oceans with toxic household chemicals people use on a daily basis.

Excessive plastic packaging on food products is another cause for concern, and plastic bags, but this has finally been addressed by supermarkets etc. So tiny steps are being taken, there’s still a long way to go though.

My gripe with the story in  The Independent is that it’s a bit sensationalist, nothing to be surprised about there, they need to shift newspapers. but, come on! Why did they not talk to people who produce eco glitter? Offer some alternatives, if they REALLY cared about the environment they would have.

I have compiled a list below of eco glitter companies – they are springing up everywhere, so let’s get on that eco glitter bandwagon and start spreading the word – the world NEEDS glitter!

Sparkle with Care #sparklewithcare

Samantha of Fulfilled Wishes told me “I Just want to raise the profile of eco alternatives before they get lost in the tidal wave of ‘all glitter is bad’. I don’t want the faerie/mermaid world to be seen as eco-unfriendly!”

So, what can we do about the glitter issue? We can source eco glitters, there are several companies producing it, and it does not cost the earth!

I am sharing a few of the eco glitter companies here, so that no one should be without a bit of sparkle this Christmas and New Year!

Celebrating my first blog post!

Hello! So, today I am starting a blog! I’m positive someone will be interested in reading it! I know I need to curb my explanation marks (memo to self – noted!) 😉 My name is Karen Kay, people often call me the Fairy Lady.

Over the coming days/weeks/months/years I intend to share my story, to give you some background about me, where I came from etc, and what I’m up to now. While it’s still fresh I am going to share a little about last weekend. My experience at the Hay House Writers Workshop 2017 in Bristol was amazing. I came away feeling so inspired, and the ideas are flowing.

Reid Tracy CEO of Hay House and Karen Kay

Meeting Reid Tracy was a joy, and his wisdom and experience as CEO of Hay House was really helpful and a true blessing.

The Managing Director of Hay House U.K. Michelle Pilley, was engaging as she shared practical and wise advice with a captivated audience of writers and authors-to-be.

Robert Holden was also wonderful and funny, I really enjoyed his workshop and his teaching methods.

Thanks to Julia Cameron (author of The Artist’s Way), I am writing my ‘Morning Pages’ as soon as I wake up. I can see how having a good ‘non-negotiable’ routine will be really helpful on my journey as a writer and author, and yes, I shall be setting the bar low!
